Q: What types of recyclable products do you buy?
A: The majority of the tonnage shipped by Central
States Fiber is paper or corrugated cardboard. In addition, we buy various
grades of post consumer and post industrial plastic scrap. If you have large
quantities of any material that you think could be recyclable, please call. If
we don’t have an existing outlet for your product we will do our best to develop
one.
Q: Where do you buy and sell your products?
A: We are currently doing business in 12-15 states
in the U.S. and exporting some product outside the country. We would be happy to
work with you wherever you are located.
Q: How long have you been in business?
A: The predecessor company to Central States Fiber
dates back to the 1950’s. Central States Fiber was established in 1972 and has
operated continuously since then.
Q: How much material do I have to save before you can pick it up
from me?
A: Outside Indiana we buy in full truckload lots
of twenty tons or more, which can then be shipped directly to paper mills or
other consuming industries. This assures you of the highest possible price,
since your material is going directly to the end user, with no intervening
handling or processing. Within Indiana, we can pick up smaller quantities. Our
recycling plant in Marion, Indiana offers pickup service to offices, factories,
printers, and other businesses which don’t have the capacity to prepare and
store full semi-loads.
Q: How much do you pay for ______________? (You fill in the
blank)
A: Because of changing market conditions, freight
considerations, and geographic factors, we cannot post the prices we pay for
materials. Prices for the same commodity vary significantly from one region of
the country to another. In addition, there are often month-to-month price
fluctuations related to supply and demand factors. We can give you up-to-date
prices after discussing your particular situation.
Q: How much material do I have to have in order for you to
provide me with a baler?
A: In general, we like to see at least one
truckload per month generated on an ongoing basis. At that level we can install
a baler for you and you will generate a positive income while making payments on
the equipment. We will match the baling equipment with the type and amount of
material you have to process.
Q: How long will prices continue to be this high (or
low)?
A: About the only thing that can be said about the
prices of recyclable commodities is that they will fluctuate. The recycling
industry is governed by the law of supply and demand. Most of the time, prices
change gradually, as the economy slows or grows, but there are occasional
violent price swings as well. What we can assure you is that we will follow the
market and always give you the best possible prices, in good times and bad.
